Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ambe ("Ambe", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Ambe mobile app and the website at getambe.com (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
Ambe is a tone-rewriting tool that helps you communicate more calmly in high-conflict situations. You can contact us at hello@getambe.com about anything in this Policy, including to exercise your privacy rights.
2. Information we collect
Message content you submit
When you use Ambe, you provide the draft message you want to check, optionally the message you are replying to, and the relationship context you select. This content is sent to our server and to our AI processing provider solely to generate your tone analysis and rewrites, which are returned to you.
We do not store or log your message content on our servers, and it is not used to train AI models. Message content is processed transiently to produce your result and is not retained by us afterwards.
Your name and optional sign-in
If you enter a first name, it is stored locally on your device only, to personalise your greeting. Signing in is entirely optional — Ambe never requires an account and works fully without one.
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google as a shortcut to fill in your name, that authentication happens directly between your device and Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We only ever store your first name and an anonymous provider identifier locally on your device — this information is not sent to or stored on our servers, and we do not currently offer cross-device sign-in or account sync.
Subscription information
Subscriptions are purchased and processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed via our subscriptions provider (RevenueCat). By default this uses an anonymous purchaser ID, not your name or email. We receive your subscription status (such as active, trial, or expired) but not your full payment card details.
Technical and diagnostic data
Ambe does not currently use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. Our hosting provider may retain standard, transient server-request metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) for security and reliability purposes, as is normal for any web service — we do not use this to build a profile of you.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core Service — analysing your draft and generating rewrites;
- To personalise your greeting and remember your preferences;
- To manage your subscription and free trial;
- To respond to your support requests;
- To maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. When we share information
We share information only with service providers who help us run Ambe, and only as needed:
- AI processing (Anthropic) — to analyse your draft and generate rewrites. Message content is processed to produce your result and is not used to train models.
- Apple or Google — only if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google. This exchange happens directly between your device and Apple/Google; we do not receive or store your email address, and we store only your first name and an anonymous provider ID locally on your device.
- Apple App Store / Google Play and RevenueCat — to process payments and manage subscriptions, using an anonymous purchaser ID by default.
- Hosting (Railway) — to run our backend service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
5. International processing
Ambe's providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
6. How long we keep information
- Message content: not retained by us after your result is generated.
- Name and sign-in identifiers: stored locally on your device only, until you delete the app, sign out, or clear it. We hold none of this on our servers.
- Subscription data: kept while your subscription is active and as required to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. This includes rights under the Australian Privacy Principles, the EU/UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). To make a request, email hello@getambe.com. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator (in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner).
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information — for example, our AI provider key is held only on our server and is never embedded in the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
9. Children
Ambe is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
